62" PBY 5-A CATALINA

This model is a stand off scale model that features improvements for better flying and water handling. It has more floatation so it rides higher in the water and has a fun fly soft stalling airfoil for great RC flying. Generous washout in the wing tips make very stable soft stalls.

This airplane makes a great twin trainer as the engines are close together and flying on water is much more forgiving that flying on land. It features vac. formed cockpit, blisters, cowls and nacelles. A 30 page instruction booklet and many presawn parts make building quick and fun.

The wing tip floats are retracted with Robart .40 size landing gear retracts using a retract type servo. The wing is a semisemetrical airfoil which transitions to a Clark Y airfoil at the tips. This results in extremely high lift wing tips making stalls a dead ahead gentle break. The wing, horizontal stabilizer and elevator are foam core and the rudder is built up rib construction. This plane will easily do loops, rolls, hammerhead stalls, full stalls, inverted flight and spins if you are not into scale flying. It will also fly slow with good stability due to the airfoil design.
